Peeta

As the scene unfolds, I silently wait
Watching her, holding my breath
She has sentenced herself to her sister's fate
And sentenced me to my first death
The death is not real, but it might as well be
She could not know what she means to me

I want to tell her, but it's far too late
And my cowardice I despise
And as she takes her sister's fate
Something inside of me dies
Could I tell her through my dying breath
As my soul is split through this first death?

But the odds are not mine in this game of fates
As my name is plucked from the bowl
I know my second death awaits
And another piece splits from my soul
But then I see how she looks at me
And I know my second death has set me free

As I take the stage, and meet her eyes,
I cannot turn away
She stares at me with shocked surprise
Does she remember that day?
We stand there, as if in a trance
And my second death becomes my second chance
Part 5 of The Reaping project, and Peeta is now front and center. Out of all the poems I've done for this series, this is probably my personal favorite.

I love this one.  It starts out really sad but you somehow bring hope to the piece!  So talented!!!  This is beautiful!!!
